Getting Started

What's up Itch.io? Timothy Forest here.

I had a lot of trouble figuring out the vision fo the game. My design philosophies clashed pretty hard with the lead and his vision. doing the design document was a long and strenuous task. on top of that I also had the issue of getting back into using Unity and C#. We have been doing things in C++ and unreal recently, returning to Unity after being away form it for so long was more challenging at first than I thought. After looking back at my midterm project, I was having trouble understanding my code. I remembered what it did overall, but figuring out each section was like trying to put puzzle pieces together, but the whole puzzle is the same color.

Eventually, in regards to the design document, as we started writing things down and talking them out, I started to align with the direction we were going more and more. I feel like I have a good understanding of what the final product should look like and I can now work efficiently towards that goal. In reguards to Unity, after about a day of researching, looking back at my old code, and dabbling in some empty projects, I feel like I am back into the swing of things. I feel very confident in my coding abilities after learning so much since midterm. My old code that was hard to understand at first can be improved upon so much now. I feel like I can execute my ideas much faster and more aligned with good coding practices to allow for easy integration with the rest of the game and future proofed for features we may add that we didn't originally plan for, if we have time.
